The Stadio Libero Liberati is a football stadium with track and field facility in the Italian city of Terni in the eponymous province of Umbria. The football club Ternana Calcio is the home team. The stadium is named after Libero Liberati. Born in Terni Liberati was motorcycle racer and was, inter alia, 1957 world champion in the 500cc class. On March 5, 1962, Liberati at the age of 35 years on the way to a race in a traffic accident.

History

The Stadio Libero Liberati is the third venue in the club's history of Ternana Calcio. First one came at the Foro Boario of Terni. The Stadio di Viale Brin was built in 1924 /25 and remained until the 1990s received; until it was demolished for a parking lot. Commissioned by the city architect Leopoldo Barruchello designed 1961 the stadium. The following year, the city decided to erect the plant in the San Martino on ten acres on the outskirts of the city. But until completion, it was not until 1969 Inaugurated with the match between Ternana Calcio and the Brazilian team Palmeiras São Paulo.; which ended in a 0-0 draw.

The bowl-like stadium with athletics running track is very spacious and the audience away on the double-decker stands far from the action. The revolving Tribune ranks are broken only behind the goals. The gap in the North Stand was closed in 1974 with a grandstand. A canopy has not the Libero Liberati. The two upper tiers are built on massive concrete pillars. On the upper tier of the main stand, the press box was fitted with cabins for radio and television commentators. Recently, the stadium was renovated and adapted to the requirements of the Series A and Series B. In the meantime, summed up the stadium 40000-45000 visitors; Today it still offers 22,000 seats for football fans.

So far two times wearing the Italian national football team of men from an international match in the stadium of Terni.
