History

In 1964, plans for a new stadium began in Novara; Construction work started in 1971., the home of Novara Calcio was inaugurated on January 22, 1976, and had at the beginning of a capacity of 25,000 seats. It replaced after about 44 years old Venue Stadio Comunale di Via Alcarotti. At the opening met Novara and Juventus (2-1) to each other. Until well into the 1990s, the municipal stadium was named after the street Viale Kennedy where it is located.

On 23 October 1997, the city of Novara decided that the facility will bear the name of the Italian Football World Champion from 1938, Silvio Piola ( 1913-1996 ). Piola played at the end of his career from 1947 to 1954 in Novara Calcio. Novara Calcio managed in the 2009/10 season promotion to the Serie B. For this, the stadium was adapted to the safety regulations of the B series. For example, the stands were renovated, installed turnstiles at the entrances and installed a new playing field of artificial turf. Currently, it offers visitors 17,875 seats. Behind the grandstand are several small training grounds. On the other side (east) are parking. In the north are, inter alia, a baseball field, tennis courts and athletics facilities.
