Stadion Piast

The stadium Miejski ( German Municipal Stadium, formerly Jahn Stadion) is a football stadium in Gliwice in Poland, built in 1926 and was rebuilt in 2011. The stadium is used for home games belonging of the Ekstraklasa club Piast Gliwice.

History

Jahnstadion

The Jahn stadium was built in 1926, when Gleiwitz ( Gliwice Polish ) still belonged to the German Empire. Named after the stadium was the father of gymnastics Friedrich Ludwig Jahn. The SpVgg forward turf sports Gliwice wore their home games until 1945 Jahnstadion.

Municipal Stadium

The stadium was rebuilt in 2011 and now has a capacity of 10,037 seats. The renovation cost € 15 million (approximately 62.586 million zloty ).
