Stadttheater Minden

The Stadttheater Minden is a rank theater in the East Westphalian city of Minden in Minden- Luebbecke.

History

The theater was built in the years 1906-1908 in neo-baroque form, designed by the renowned architect August Kersten ( city building in Minden ) and Paul Kanold ( Regierungsbaumeister in Berlin). The outer facade is plastered and provides references to frederizianischen Baroque dar. In the same style and the building of the district government of Minden and the District Office of the district of Minden were built in the immediate vicinity. The theater has 568 seats.

On 1 October 1908, the theater was opened as the first piece of Goethe's " Iphigenia in Tauris " was performed. The theater has its own company, but produces its own productions. It serves as a venue for touring theater and is also used as a concert hall; such performances there regularly the Northwest German Philharmonic.

In September of 1998, the opera Frederick and Katte by Wolfgang Knuth was premiered on the Minden City Theatre. This opera was written especially for the 1200 -year anniversary of the city.

On 15 November 2008, the 100 -year anniversary was celebrated.

A special feature at the City Theatre Minden: Operas by Richard Wagner come as productions of the Municipal Theatre, the Richard Wagner Association and the NWD on the board in the spring of 1999 in Minden Richard Wagner Association of the idea to continue especially in Minden staged operas born. The "Dutch " project attracted nationwide attention. Frank Beermann conducted, John Pierce sang Tannhäuser, Andreas Hoerl the Landgrave, Heiko Trinsinger the tungsten. In the premiere, the now internationally known as Elizabeth Anne Schwanewilms was used.

2009 " Lohengrin ". John Dew, a sought at all stages of the world opera director, staged.

2012 Finally, the highly successful production of " Tristan and Isolde " is a joint project of the Richard Wagner Association Minden, the Municipal Theater Minden and the Northwest German Philharmonic. Directed by: Matthias von Stegmann. Dara Hobbs and Andreas Schager in the main roles of Isolde and Tristan.
