Staged reading

A reading staged ( staged reading, scenic reading ) is the reading of a text in front of audience, surrounded by theater-like elements. The stage is thematically equipped.

The reading can also be multimedia support with music and imagery. The to-read texts ( poems and short stories / short stories to novels 'm too ) are often presented as so-called role of several actors reading without falling into " actors ".

The texts are worked scenic, wherein the reading with all its techniques - articulation, voice volume, tempo, voice use, vocal production, breathing - is paramount. A mixture of classic reading lecture and the depicting game is applied. Through active ( representational ) acts with the audience partially blend the boundaries between the speaker and the listener.

Reading productions are more than just readings, but not a variant of the theater. Offered are reading productions at small theaters, libraries or frequently creative as a component in secondary schools teaching text.
