History

The settlement was on the 8th and 9th century by the monastery Munster at Steinach. The village was part of the Electorate of Bavaria, but formed a closed Hofmark the barons of Poissl. The present municipality was created in 1818.

Incorporations

The former municipality Schönstein was incorporated on 1 January 1972. The main part of the dissolved municipality Landorf was added on 1 January 1977. On 1 May 1978, the eastern part of the former municipality Zinzenzell slammed the municipality Stallwang.

Culture and sights

The parish church of St. Michael dates from the mid -18th century. The late medieval tower was increased in the new construction. At the 1786-1789 -built high altar the Straubinger artist Mathias Obermayr ( carvings ), Andreas Massinger ( carpentry ) and JB (seller barrel painting) were involved. The main character, the Seven Sorrows of Mary represents the pulpit from 1803 with Evangelist reliefs created by Fidelis Itelsperger.
