Stampede Wrestling

Wrestling STAMPEDE, STAMPEDE short, is the name of a former Canadian wrestling promotion that was based in Calgary, Alberta. Promoters were Bill Bell and Devon Nicholson.

History

The history of the promotion began in 1930, when the promoter Larry Tillman in Calgary Stampede Wrestling aufstellte the banner.

In 1948, Stu Hart the sports club Foothills Athletic Club, which hosted in Edmonton, Alberta, under the banner of Klondike Wrestling Wrestling tournaments.

NWA- time

1951 merged both promoters and now presented the new banner STAMPEDE Wrestling on. In the same year STAMPEDE was an affiliate of the National Wrestling Alliance and acted as NWA Calgary / NWA of Alberta.

In 1952, Larry Tillman withdrew from the NWA and Stu Hart took his place in the NWA Board. Previously he served as deputy Tillmans been only assessors.

STAMPEDE quickly became one of the leading wrestling promotions in Canada and 1957-1989 she had a successful TV format, which was eventually transferred in 50 countries.

STAMPEDE as WWF territory development

The purchase of STAMPEDE by the World Wrestling Federation was one of the first steps of this promotion to become the global market leader in wrestling.

STAMPEDE as Independent Promotion

In October 1985, however, Bruce Hart STAMPEDE surprisingly, the WWF bought off again and established this now in the Canadian independent scene. In December 1989, the promotion was then closed by Bruce Hart, but during the wrestling school still remained.

STAMPEDE under new management
