Stanau
Stanau is a municipality in the Thuringian Saale- Orla-Kreis. Fulfilling community for Stanau is the town of Neustadt an der Orla.
Geography and Geology
Stanau is located northwest of Neustadt an der Orla at the twisty and elevation changes over winding country road 1077 towards Stadtroda and Jena Wolfersdorf. This road also connects the adjacent places by the federal highway 281 to the Federal Highway 9 in connection with Triptis. The village lies in a valley of a plateau of the Saale- Elster- sandstone slab and is surrounded by meadows and fields, and then surrounded by forest. Neighboring towns are south Breitenhain and Strößwitz, west Wolfersdorf, north and east Meusebach Rattelsdorf.
History
The first documentary mention of the place Stanau ( Skanove ) comes from the year 1071st This date is also confirmed by Wolfgang Kahl. The residents of the village were and landscape management and use of nature are connected.
