Standard electrode potential

Under the standard potential of a redox couple is defined as the measurable under standard conditions electrical potential between a hydrogen half-cell and the half-cell that redox couple.

The ordered according to size tabulation of standard potentials results in the electrochemical series. The more positive is the standard potential, the nobler is the element.
