Standart (newspaper)

The default ( Bulgarian Стандарт; pronunciation [ stɐndart ]; German meaning " standard " ) is a Bulgarian national daily newspaper with editorial headquarters in Sofia. The newspaper was founded in 1992. The current owner of the publishing company Standart News AG ( Стандарт нюз ) is Todor Batkow.

Since its inception Standard publishes a daily online edition in Bulgarian and English. In addition, an RSS newsfeed is available in Bulgarian.

Even before the government takeover of the Bulgarian Socialists with Sergey Stanishev as prime minister in 2005 was the newspaper as partisan. Today the newspaper is considered Russophile and leftist.

The standard should not be confused with the standard of the Austrian daily newspaper.
