Standartenführer

The SS Standartenführer (short: Staf; speech: Standard Leader ) was the second-highest ranking officer of the Schutzstaffel (SS ) outside the General ranks, which would be comparable to today's A16 colonel in the German Reich.

The rank of Standartenführer was intended for the commanding officers of the SS Standard, each consisting of 3-4 SS storm spells and had a standard strength 1000-3000 man. In the Waffen- SS Standartenführer usually commanded a regiment (outline similar to the army ).

In the images of the insignia or badges of rank are shown, which were worn as shoulder pieces, but also as an insignia or collar flap. The starting Standartenfuhrer up now mirrored insignia of rank badges were worn on the field gray uniform jacket of the Waffen- SS or the gray tunic.
