Stangerode is a district of the town Arnstein in the district of Mansfeld- South Harz in Saxony- Anhalt.

Geography

Stangerode located on the eastern edge of the Harz about 13 km south-west of Aschersleben. In the center of the line flows into the One.

History

1216 Stangerode was first mentioned as Stangerod. Corresponding to a formerly widely popular custom here the saga rooted habit of interest. The place was in pledged Saxon Office Arnstein and came in 1815 to the Kingdom of Prussia.

On January 1, 2010, the formerly independent communities Stangerode, Alterode, Bräunrode, Pommern, Harkerode, Quenstedt, Sylda, Ulzigerode and Welbsleben and the city Sandersleben (Anhalt) merged to form the new town Arnstein. The administrative community Wipper - A, one of the Stangerode, was dissolved.

Traffic

At the federal highway 242 which connects Hasselfelde and Mansfeld, there are about 11 km to the south. Through the village leads the provincial road 228, which connects Aschersleben with Abberode.
