Stanley Cohen (biochemist)

Stanley Cohen ( born November 17, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York, USA) is an American neuroscientist and biochemist.

Cohen was born as the son emigrated from Russia Jews. His father was a tailor.

1982 Cohen was awarded the Alfred P. Sloan, Jr. Prize awarded in 1983 with the Louisa Gross Horwitz Prize, 1985 Gairdner Foundation International Award a. In 1986, he received together with Rita Levi Montalcini - the Albert Lasker Award for Basic Medical Research and the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for their discovery of nerve growth factor. He is a member of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
