Stanley Jordan

Stanley Jordan ( born July 31, 1959 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American jazz guitarist.

Jordan began at the age of six years with a piano training and moved at the age of eleven years to the guitar. He developed a touch as playing designated game technique in which the strings of the guitar is not touched, but are struck analog of piano technique on the fretboard of the guitar. With this technique it was 1976 best soloist at the Reno International Jazz Festival.

By 1981, he studied music at Princeton University and played with jazz bands in the region, but also with the likes of Dizzy Gillespie. After that, he founded the label Tangent Records, where he recorded his first album in 1982 Touch Sensitive brought out. The album was a failure, and Jordan lived for some time as a street musician in New York, Philadelphia and other cities.

In 1985, his album Magic Touch, the critics and the audience had great success and held for nearly a year at the top of the jazz charts for Blue Note Records. In the following years he appeared on TV shows such as The Tonight Show and David Letterman and played in the 1987 film Blind Date - Rendezvous with a Stranger by Blake Edwards. Over the next few years appeared more than half a dozen albums since the mid- 1990s, he is active in addition to the American Music Therapy Association.
