Stanley Myers

Stanley Myers ( born October 6, 1933, Birmingham, † November 9, 1993 in London) was a British composer. He composed the music for more than 100 films.

He attained with " Cavatina ", a piece for guitar The biggest celebrity (originally for piano ) which go through hell ( The Deer Hunter) from 1978 forms for Michael Cimino's film The musical entertainment. For this song, which is also known as The Theme from The Deer Hunter, Myers won the Ivor Novello Award. Myers had this song originally written for The Walking Stick from 1970, for which he was interpreted by John Williams. Cavatina is despite his quiet and simple melody as difficult to play.

In the 1980s, Myers worked frequently for films by director Stephen Frears. For his score for Prick Up Your Ears in 1987 he won the prize for the "Best Artistic Contribution " at the International Film Festival of Cannes 1987.

Myers died in 1993 from cancer.
