Stanly County, North Carolina

Stanly County is a county located in the state of North Carolina of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Albemarle, which was named after George Monck, Duke of Albemarle.

Geography

The County is located just west of the geographic center of North Carolina, is in the south about 40 miles from South Carolina away and has an area of ​​1047 square kilometers, of which 24 square kilometers are water surface. History

Stanly County was formed in 1841 from parts of Montgomery County. It was named after the politician John Stanly, a member of the House of Commons of North Carolina and a member of the Repräsententenhaus.
