Stanton Davis

Stanton Davis ( born November 10, 1945 in New Orleans) is an American jazz trumpeter and flugelhorn player.

Davis studied until 1973 at the New England Conservatory of Music. In the early 1970s he led Ghetto Mysticism, a jazz-funk group, with which he appeared in New England and New York, and the album Brighter Days recorded.

He then worked with jazz musicians such as George Gruntz, Jim Pepper, Bob Stewart, David Murray, Muhal Richard Abrams, Sam Rivers, Gil Evans, Webster Lewis, Jaki Byard, and Max Roach, and with bands such as The Mercer Ellington Orchestra, The Lionel Hampton Orchestra, George Russell's Living Time Orchestra, Mongo Santamaria 's Orchestra, Mario Bauza & His Afro - Cuban Jazz Orchestra, Lester Bowie 's Brass Fantasy and the Liberation Music Orchestra bassist Charlie Haden. In David Sanborn's NBC's Night Music, he performed as a soloist.

He also played trumpet in soundtracks for films like An American Dream and The Virgin Iceland Adventure and piano in various television and Broadway shows. Furthermore, he joined concerts and festivals with Jon Lucien, Al Cooper, the Four Tops, Lou Rawls, David Ruffin, The Dells, Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, the Tavares and others on. From 1980 to 1988 he worked as a music teacher at Jazz Mobile. In 1988 he published at Enja album Manhattan Melody with their own compositions.
