Start-1

Start is the name of a Russian carrier rocket ( " Topol ") was developed based on the ICBM SS -25.

One differentiates the types of start and start -1. Start -1, has four rocket stages, starting, however, five, wherein the second stage is integrated twice. The rocket solid propellant used for all steps. The payload into a low earth orbit ( 400 km ) is approximately 500 kg for Start -1 and 570 kg for launch. Both versions of the rocket have a maximum diameter of 1.8 meters. Start -1 is 22.7 meters high and has a launch mass of 47 tons. The larger model launch is 28.8 meters high and has a launch mass of 60 tons.

The missiles are launched from Plesetsk and Svobodny from a mobile launch vehicle. The only start of the model Boot failed in 1995, start- 1 was first started in 1993.
