Start Me Up

Start Me Up is a song by the Rolling Stones. It was published in 1981 on the album Tattoo You, and was previously released as a single. Was composed the piece by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. The single was released on August 15, 1981 in the U.S., the UK and Germany with the B- side of No Use in Crying, reaching the same year for two months # 2 on the U.S. charts.

Formation

The song was originally during the recording sessions for the album Sticky Fingers (1970 ) first recorded as a demo version. Mid -1970s was recorded changed a reggae version under the title Never Stop. This variant was not yet officially released, but is available only as a bootleg version. Another recording of the piece was written during the sessions for the album Some Girls in 1978. Recording studios were the Pathé Marconi Studios in Paris, the Compass Point Studios in Nassau (Bahamas ) and the Electric Lady Studios in New York.

Construction

The song is in the basic pattern of only the three chords C major, F major and B flat major and an additional dis- chord used in the bridge, where the guitars are tuned in Open G.

Windows 95

Beginning with the launch of the Windows 95 operating system in 1995, the company Microsoft used the song for a marketing campaign.

The negotiations for the use of the song led by Microsoft of Brad Silverberg responsible for Windows 95. He reported that the negotiations with the heads of the Rolling Stones were difficult until recently. Mick Jagger was reluctant at first for artistic reasons against licensing the song. In view of the negotiation sum of 3 million U.S. dollars Keith Richards moved him to relent and Start Me Up was the first song by the Rolling Stones, the use took place in a commercial.

Brad Silverberg further reports that Microsoft initially received a kind of live version of the song. This shot would have been more recent Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, promised in contrast to any party to the studio version, significantly higher revenue. Microsoft was but on the familiar studio version and got it for further use.
