Stasis (medicine)

As stasis (Greek στάσις " congestion ", " congestion " ) is called in the technical language of medicine to jam an otherwise moving body fluid or an ingredient of hollow organs:

  • Congestion of blood, see hemostasis
  • Stasis of lymph, lymphostasis, see edema
  • Stasis of bile, see cholestasis
  • Stasis of mucus, see mucostasis
  • Stasis of intestinal contents, see fecal impaction (also Enterostase )
