STATCOM

The Static Synchronous Compensator ( STATCOM ) is a power converter in the pulse mode, which generates a three-phase voltage system having a variable voltage the amplitude of which voltages are phase shifted by 90 ° with respect to the corresponding line currents. It can be inductive or capacitive reactive power exchanged between the STATCOM and the network.

The Static Synchronous Compensator counts in the field of power electronics to the flexible AC transmission systems (Flexible AC Transmission System ( FACTS) ) and from those of the functionally similar static reactive power compensation benefits in the stabilization of AC systems, as its reactive power is not on the level AC mains voltage dependent.
