Staten Island Borough Hall

The Staten Iceland Borough Hall is a public building in the region lying to the southwest of Manhattan New York City borough of Staten Iceland.

The building has an address of 10 Richmond Terrace and is located opposite the terminal of the Staten Iceland Ferry at Stuyvesant Street and Borough Place.

History

The Borough Hall was designed by architects Carrère & Hastings and built in 1903. It is built in the French Renaissance style and decorated inside with eleven WPA thematizing murals by Frederick Charles Stahr. The three-storey building is equipped with a gambrel roof.

In 1983 the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Current usage

Originally built as a Borough Hall, the building serves this purpose even today. It hosts the headquarters of the Borough Presidents, Office of the Building Authority and other municipal offices.
