Statherian

The Statherium is a geological period within the Proterozoic eon ( Paleoproterozoic era ). Its beginning is set to about 1,800 million years ago, their end at about 1,600 million years ago. It follows the period of Orosiriums and is detached from the Calymmium (period of the era Mesoproterozoikum ).

Naming

The name is derived from Statherium gr = statheros, solid, stable ' and should allude to the stabilization or " Kratonisierung " many ancient continental nuclei at this time.
