Station group (railway)

Wage equality refers to a process in which the train fares are unified to and from certain cities. This are several railway stations accessible in a city to the same fare. In Germany this process in more than 40 cities applied.

For example, there are in Berlin for all stations on and within the Berlin ring road only a tariff item called "BERLIN ". The fare for the destinations Berlin Zoologischer Garten or Berlin Alexanderplatz is thus from distances of hundreds of kilometers of the same. In Berlin, since 1898 there have been tickets bearing the imprint " Berlin Stadtbahn " where the inner-city railway stations and at times remote stations were incorporated outside of downtown. 2006, this designation was abolished and replaced by the collective term " BERLIN".

The tariff equality may be limited to tickets from a certain length of the route. With the introduction of the City Tickets is an "extended collective equality " is introduced for tickets from 100 km for all stations of the participating city that does not apply to season tickets.

A similar process takes place in other countries, called station grouping in the UK. A ticket from or after the inner-city railway stations of London is generally determined by " London Terminals" issued not to a specific station.
