The term station called (from Latin statio for the " subject" or "site" ):

• Stops of transport, for example, on public roads, the stop
• At the railway station or the breakpoint
• At the valley station lifts or mountain station

• In the historic postal system, a relay station at which the riders and horses were changed, see post station
