Statism

Statism (French État " State") is a term that is used for multiple political views and theories which have in common is to see in the state's regulative for example, economic and social life. The term originated around 1880 in France.

Applications

Statism can:

  • Be connected to centralized state views,
  • Certain positions of the planned economy denote the state control is effective only in essential industries and
  • Represent a set exclusively to the interests of the state of thinking, or
  • Denote a policy that attempts to extend the jurisdiction of the state at the expense of the rights, powers, freedom and the independence of the society, especially in economic and personal terms.

Statism in different countries

A bureaucratic statism was next to a ständischem particularism already in the era of enlightened absolutism. In Switzerland, the presence of the strengthening of the central authority of the Federation against the cantons is expressed thus, however. In Turkey, statism is one of the basic principles of Kemalism.
