Geography

Geographical Location

Stattegg lies in the valley of the Andritz creek, just north of the city of Graz Andritz district. It stretches between 387 m and 1340 m above sea level at Niederschöckl. The municipality is part of the Grazer Bergland. In the municipality there are four mountains are over 1000 meters high: the Zwölferkogel ( 1192 m), the High Mountain ( 1048 m), Erhard height ( 1049m ) and the High Rannach (1018 m).

Neighboring communities

Name

The name is derived from the name Stattegg the castle, which was built on a hill. The first syllable comes from " sta" ( Old High German: stand ), " eck / egg " is a sharp terrain angle (approximately 120 degrees). Because there is present the level land on the mountain, it was called " Stadeck ".

History

In the Middle Ages Stadecker were an important Ministerialengeschlecht ( servant of the Prince ). Your headquarters, the castle was Stadeck in today's district of stroke on the hill between Huber host and elementary school. They made an archbishop of Salzburg ( Archbishop Ulrich I of Stadeck, 26 Archbishop of Salzburg, 1256-1265 ), a minstrel, Rudolf von Stadegge and several provincial governors ( Leutold of Stadeck ( 1255 ), Hartnid of Stadeck ( 1292-1299 ), Leutold of Stadeck (1362-1364), Hans von Stadeck (1396-1398)). In 1400 they became extinct with the death of Hans von Stadeck and his son Leuthold.

Since 1951 Stattegger Schlossberg of the volunteer fire department Stattegg is used as a training ground.

Culture and sights

  • Church Maria Schutz in Kalkleiten, built in 1962 (at the plateau in the east at Schoeckl )
  • Old limestone and gravel plant ( founded in 1890, set in 1966, two lime kilns since 1981 under monument protection)
  • Andritz original source ( Jakob Lorber - meeting ), is considered by many to be medicinal water with special effects. However, studies show that it is simple spring water, which is found in this form in the Alps. Furthermore, they found the water numerous impurities due to the fact floating fish and ducks. The spring pool is surrounded by a 400 -year-old wall.
  • Ruined remains of the castle Stadeck on the Stattegger Schlossberg between host and Huber Elementary School (now fixed place of volunteer firefighters )
  • Alpine Garden Rannach ( on the ridge west of the Stattegger Tales, 2007 re-opened )

Economy and infrastructure

Traffic

Stattegg is off the main roads. Because the community is located at the head of the valley, there is no through traffic. The Phyrn motorway ( A 9) is approximately five kilometers away and across the junction Graz -Nord ( 175 ) can be achieved. The Grazer Straße ( B 67 ) is about four kilometers away.

In Stattegg there is no train station. The distance to Graz Hauptbahnhof is about. seven kilometers. The line 53 of Graz AG transport services departs from Central Station to Stattegg, the foot of the liver, the line 47 of Andritz Kalkleiten to the liver and the line 45 of Andritz St. Veit to Rannach.

Graz Airport is around 17 km away.
