Statue of Ebih-Il

The statuette of Ebih - Il is a 50 cm high statuette praying alabaster. It was probably made in the 25th century BC and is available in several fragments. She was found in 1934 in the French excavations at Mari ( Tell Hariri ), and is now exhibited in the Louvre in Paris ( Inventory Number: AO 17551 ).

The statuette shows a seated man in prayer position. His head is bald, but he has a long beard. Dress it with a skirt. The eyes are made by a composition of mica, shells and lapis lazuli and inserted into corresponding recesses. The feet of the figure have not been found.

On the shoulder is an inscription attached to the effect that the statue from the official Ebih - Il of the goddess Inanna / Ishtar was consecrated.
