Stausee Gibidum

The Gibidum is a reservoir in the canton of Valais. It is located above the Massa Gorge.

The reservoir has an area of ​​21 hectares and considering the size an enormous maximum depth of 104 meters. It is fed by the largest glacier in the Alps, the Aletsch. The power plant is in Bitsch. The reservoir Gibidum is not to be confused with the Gibidumsee above Visperterminen in the Matter.

History

Construction of the dam Gebidem in 1964, it was completed in 1967. Was put in operation the entire power plant in 1969.
