Stavyshche

Stawyschtsche (Ukrainian Ставище; Russian Stawischtsche ) is the capital of Ukrainian Rajon Stawyschtsche and is located about 122 kilometers south of Kiev on the river Hnylyj Tikytsch.

The town was first mentioned in writing in 1622 and belonged to Poland yet. In 1635 he was awarded the Magdeburg Law, after the partition of Poland in 1795 it fell to Russia and then lay up to 1918 in the government of Kiev. Since 1956 Stawyschtsche has the status of an urban-type settlement.
