Stearns County, Minnesota

The Stearns County is a county located in the U.S. state of Minnesota. In 2010, the County had 150 642 inhabitants and a population density of 43.3 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) St. Cloud.

Geography

The County is located just south of the geographical center of Minnesota at the mouth of the Sauk River in the upper Mississippi. It has an area of 3600 square kilometers, of which 118 square kilometers are water surface. At the Stearns County borders the following Nachbarcountys:

History

The Stearns County was formed on February 20, 1855 from portions of Cass County, Nicollet County, Sibley County and the only surviving in Wisconsin Pierce County. It was named after Charles Thomas Stearns, a member of the territorial administration of Minnesota from 1849 to 1858.

According to the census in 2010 lived in Stearns County 150 642 people in 56 469 households. The population density was 43.3 inhabitants per square kilometer. In the 56 469 households lived statistically 2.49 per person.
