Stefan Cichy

Stefan Cichy ( born March 30, 1939 in Przyszowice powiat in Gliwice, Silesia, Poland ) is Bishop of Legnica ( Liegnitz ).

Life

Stefan Cichy In 1957 he entered into the Priestersemninar in Krakow. On June 23, 1963 by Coadjutor Bishop Herbert Bednorz ordained a priest, he studied from 1967 to 1971 at the Pontifical Faculty of Theology in Krakow and subsequently at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Vienna and received his doctorate in 1974 as a doctor of theology. From 1975 he was professor of liturgy at the seminary in Kraków and in 1980 in Katowice. From 1980 to 1992 he was rector of the seminary in Katowice.

On August 26, 1998, Pope John Paul II Stefan Cichy auxiliary bishop in Katowice and titular bishop of Bonusta; He received episcopal ordination on 12 September 1998 by Damian zimon, Archbishop of Katowice; Co-consecrators were Stanisław Szymecki, the Archbishop of Bialystok, and Viktor Skworc, the bishop bon Tarnów.

On August 26, 1998 Archbishop Damian zimon appointed him his vicar-general.

In the Polish Episcopal Conference, he is a member of the Commission for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, from 2001 to 2011, he had to chair this Commission.

On 19 March 2005, he was introduced Bishop of Lignica and on 30 April 2005 at the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul in Legnica in his diocese.
