Stefan Dakon

Stephan Dakon ( born November 14, 1904 in Vienna, † February 27, 1997 there ), was an Austrian sculptor and ceramist.

Life and work

Stephan Dakon attended a school of sculpture and made the teaching in the Kunsterzgießerei Vienna and worked from 1924 through the mediation of the ceramist Joseph Lorenzl at the Vienna manufactory of Friedrich Goldscheider for which he created numerous models. He has developed over the years from 1925 until the mid- 1950s as one of the most important and creative designer for Goldscheider.Sein specialty figurative representation of dancers and actresses was, inter alia, The Dolly Sisters, Rita Zabekov, Lilian Harvey, Louise Brooks, as well as the formation of female wall masks, and portraits of children. Dakon also provided designs for the Wiener Keramik company keramos and the German manufacturer Goebel / Oeslau and Hertwig / Katzhütte.

The ceramics of Stephan Dakon are still traded at international auctions .. works of Dakon ( ceramics and bronzes ) are in numerous private collections and in the Vienna Museum.
