Stefan Elliott

Stefan Elliott ( born January 30, 1991 Vancouver, British Columbia) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player. He is now at the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League under contract and playing in parallel for their farm team, the Lake Erie Monsters in the American Hockey League on the position of the defender.

Career

Stefan Elliott was starting from the 2007/ 08 season regularly in the Western Hockey League for the Saskatoon Blades for use, having previously completed a season at the Vancouver NW Giants in a unterklassigen junior league in British Columbia. In his first full season for the Blades Elliott was achieved with 40 points scorer most successful defender of the team. In his second season of Canadians was honored by the WHL with the Daryl K. ( Doc ) Seaman Trophy, which recognizes both athletic and academic performance. A little later he received a similar league-wide award of the Scholastic Player of the Year Award from the Canadian Hockey League.

On March 4, the Calgary Flames transferred from the National Hockey League their second-round draft pick for the NHL Entry Draft in 2009, an annual event in which teams of the National Hockey League can secure the rights to promising young players, as well as the defender Lawrence Nycholat and Ryan Wilson in exchange for Jordan Leopold to the Colorado Avalanche. Colorado chose with this draft pick on a total of 49 position Stefan Elliott. The Canadians completed two more seasons in the Western Hockey League before he signed his first professional contract on 21 March 2011 at the Avalanche. Following the WHL season 2010/11, Elliott was named the best defensive player in the league with the Bill Hunter Memorial Trophy and was elected to the First All -Star team of the WHL. His first professional assignments was the player in the American Hockey League farm team in Colorado, the Lake Erie Monsters, which he supported in the play- offs of the AHL season 2010/11 on the defensive. With the start of the following season the defender belonged to the tribe cadres of Lake Erie Monsters.

A few weeks after start of the season Elliott was appointed after an injury Erik Johnson in the squad of the Colorado Avalanche. On 26 November 2011, the defender played his first National Hockey League game; in the 5-2 win against the Edmonton Oilers of the avalanche Elliott scored his first NHL also immediately Gate. Overall, Stefan Elliott came into the NHL season 2011/12 to 39 inserts for the Colorado Avalanche, thereby pass him four goals and nine assists. After 18 missions in the season 2012/13 he started the 2013/14 season again at the Lake Erie Monsters in the AHL.

Internationally

Stefan Elliott represented the Canadian national team for the first time at an international tournament at the U18 World Youth Championship in 2009. The team lost at this tournament, their semi-final game against the U.S. National Team, as well as the following place match against the Finnish selection and finished the tournament in fourth place. Elliott graduated from six matches and scored two assists.
