Stefan Kaufmann (musician)

Stefan Kaufmann (* August 4, 1960 ) in Solingen, is a German musician and music producer who as a drummer and guitarist of UDO Accept and gained fame.

Biography

Stefan Kaufmann comes from a musical family. He began at the age of twelve, playing the guitar. At 14, he switched to drums and made a name in local bands.

At the age of 17, he worked as a roadie for the coming German heavy metal band Accept. After the previous drummer Frank Friedrich left the band in 1978, Kaufmann was surprisingly his successor. Kaufmann was until 1994 when musicians Accept who became one of the world's most famous German heavy metal bands during this time. But chronic back problems and arthritis forced him to his career as a drummer in 1994 to finish. The band Accept broke up in 1996 on a provisional basis.

Since 1996, Kaufmann UDO guitarist for the band of former Accept singer Udo Dirk Schneider. Kaufmann had some solo albums by U.D.O. produced. U.D.O. founded in 1987 after singer Udo Dirk Schneider Accept left.

Since 1992, Kaufmann also works as a music producer and has his own recording studio in Stommeln ( near Cologne). He also produced other famous heavy metal bands such as Majesty, UDO, and Outrage Rough Silk.

On September 13, 2012 Stefan Kaufmann announced that it for health reasons his commitment to UDO must terminate.
