Stefan number

The Stefan number, St is a dimensionless parameter defined as the ratio of sensible heat to latent heat:

Here, the specific heat capacity, melting or vaporization temperature and the Phasenwechselenthalpie. The index is useful for the characterization of problems with phase transitions and is named after the physicist Josef Stefan.
