Stefan Obermaier

Stefan Obermaier (born 8 January 1981) is an Austrian electronic musician, music producer and DJ.

The Schwarzach im Pongau (Salzburg) derived Obermaier has lived in Vienna since 2001. His music spans various styles of House, on downbeat / dub to electronica.

Life and work

At the age of five years Obermaier got his first keyboard from his parents. Since the 1990s, he played in various radio / jazz combos. In 1997 and 1998 he won with his school band two consecutive Austrian Band Contest with their own compositions. At the same time he was in his early years at the forefront of live -performing electronic musician in Salzburg. At this time, when there were no musical functional laptops, he was among the few, the great state of computer transported to and installed this again and again in different venues for their performances.

After his diploma and the civil service in 2001 he moved to Vienna to study musicology, but left after signing his first record deal, the university after four completed semesters in order to concentrate solely on his musical work can.

Obermaier's first official releases were made on the compilations of the Viennese label " Vienna Scientists ". With remixes for, inter alia, M, Mark Murphy and Supermax he worked on.

In parallel, Obermaier launched on the initiative of Universal Music a series with arrangements of classical music, which at the first attempt with the album " iMozart " (2005) with gold in Austria were crowned. 2008, the creators of music developed his personal " ClassicReloaded Project", in which he further developed the fusion of his own electronic music with works of classical composers sizes. In "Beethoven Reloaded " (2008 ) was followed by "Mozart Reloaded " (2012).

Obermaier has the first museum of sound in the world, the Vienna House of Music, a private life sound showroom.

2012 found Obermaier and his partner Zwetelina Angelova her own label - "Drift Recordings" - with the first release " bagana EP " (2012) and the single " Traveler" which the top 10 German (DCC ) and British ( Cool Cuts ) Club Charts.
