Stefan Struve

Stefan Struve ( born February 18, 1988 in Beverwijk ) is a Dutch mixed martial arts fighter who competes in the heavyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. His ring name Skyscraper ( skyscraper ) refers to its size of 211 cm, making it the largest fighter in the UFC. He trained under former kickboxer and MMA fighter Bob Schrijber. Struve's competitive career includes 25 fights, of which he has won 21 and lost four (as of March 2011).

Career

At the age of 14 years Struve began with the martial arts. He made his victorious MMA debut with 17 on 19 March 2005. Was followed by another round of fighting at events around the world, for example in World Extreme Fighting, Cage Gladiators, Beast of the East and M-1 Global. Until November 2008, he scored as 16 wins and two losses, and the title of the Cage Gladiators World Heavyweight Champion. He defeated among others, Colin Robinson and Mario Neto.

In December 2008, Struve has signed a contract with the UFC. His first fight was against Junior dos Santos on February 21, 2009 at the UFC 95 instead. He lost by technical knockout ( TKO ) in the first round. But in his next fight, on June 13 at UFC 99 against Denis Stojnic and on October 24 at the UFC 104 against Chase Gormley, he could force his opponent to each task. For the victory against Gormley, he received a bonus prize for the Submission of the Night. In the UFC 107 on 12 December, he scored a victory on points against Paul Buentello.

In his next fight at UFC Fight Night: Florian vs.. Gomi had to start on 31 March 2010 Stefan Struve against Roy Nelson, who had previously become the winner of the tenth season of The Ultimate Fighter. Nelson beat him after 39 second knockout. Struve later reported that he had suffered food poisoning on the day of the fight. On August 7, Struve defeated at the UFC 117 UFC newcomer Christian Morecraft by KO and received a bonus for Knockout of the Night. In the UFC 124 on December 11, 2010, he defeated Sean McCorkle by TKO in the first round.
