Stefan Wilson

Stefan Wilson ( born September 20, 1989 in Sheffield ) is a British racing driver. He joined from 2009 to 2012 in the Indy Lights at. He is the younger brother of automobile racing driver Justin Wilson.

Career

Wilson began his motor racing career at the age of nine years in karting and was active until 2006 in this sport. In 2006 he moved to Formula racing and made his first experiences in the fall championship of Formula Palmer Audi, which he finished in ninth place overall. In 2007 he competed in the regular championship and was, nine years after his brother Justin Wilson had won the championship, runner-up of the Formula Palmer Audi. He won four races and had five more times on the podium. For his achievements he was awarded at the end of the season with the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award. As a prize, he was allowed to test a Formula 1 racing car of McLaren in late 2009. In 2008 he competed in the national class of the British Formula 3 Championship with four wins and was fourth in the overall standings.

2009 Wilson moved to North America in the Indy Lights to First Motorsports, which took in cooperation with Walker Racing. He attended only six of 15 races and finished the season with a fourth place as best result on the 22nd place overall. 2010 Wilson received at Bryan Herta Autosport as team-mate Sebastian Saavedra an Indy Lights cockpit and started in 11 of 13 races. He scored already in the season opener as a third party his first podium placement. At the end of the season, he finished eleventh overall. 2011 graduated from Wilson for Andretti Autosport his third Indy Lights season. With two victories, he was third in the drivers' standings. 2012 Wilson took for Fan Force United at only one Indy Lights race part.

Stefan Wilson debuted in 2013 for Dale Coyne Racing in the IndyCar Series. Together with his brother Justin, he made the first pair of brothers that took for a team in the IndyCar Series. Stefan Wilson competed in a race.
