Stefan Wurz

Stefan Wurz ( born October 24, 1964 in Karlsruhe ) is a German composer.

Life

Wurz studied musicology and German and published a study on the myth of the femme fatale in the opera. By working with independent theater groups he dealt increasingly with the musical theater. In addition to his activities as a composer for film and theater, he works as musical director, arranger, producer, guitarist and pianist. His musical career began with a classical piano training and as a composer, guitarist and keyboardist of various rock bands.

As the first composer he set new world in collaboration with librettist Roland Maier 1994 Aldous Huxley's Brave. His splatter opera Da Capo al Fine Award at the Hamburg Musical Competition Works in Progress 2002. In cooperation with the Czech producer Daniel Landa 2003 established the Rockquiem, a rock show after Mozart's Requiem, which was produced by the highly acclaimed premiere in Prague in Italy, Hungary, Norway and Germany.

Wurz lives in Hildesheim.
