Stefano Mauri

Stefano Mauri ( born January 8, 1980 in Monza ) is an Italian football player who has been with Lazio in Serie A, the highest football league in Italy since 2006.

Career

In the club

Mauri started his career in 1998 at the amateur club AC Meda 1913 in the Campionato Nazionale Dilettanti fünftklassigen. In his first year he was a regular and was able to rise with the club in the C2 series. By 2001 he was still playing at Meda, before transferring to second division FC Modena. In the 2001 /02 season, he rose with Modena to Serie A, but came in the promotion season only nine starts. In his first Erstligasaison he played 25 times and helped his club to relegation. For the season 2003/ 04 Mauri was awarded to the league rivals Brescia Calcio, for whom he scored seven goals in 30 games. In the same season Modena rose again from Serie A and Mauri joined Udinese Calcio.

In his first season at Udinese with the club he managed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. The Champions League Season 2005/ 06 was for Udinese not too successful, as you could only occupy third place in the group stage behind FC Barcelona and Werder Bremen and thus descent into the UEFA Cup. Also in the league, it did not go well and it was the winter break after the fourth in the preseason to a disappointing 10th place. End of January 2006 Mauri was given for six months at Lazio. For the 2006/07 season he was finally obliged for a transfer fee of around three million euros from Lazio. On 28 May 2012, he was arrested in a raid by the Italian police for a possible involvement in a betting scandal along with other current and former professionals.

On August 3, 2013 Mauri has been banned by the Italian disciplinary commission due to the betting scandal for six months.

Mauri made ​​his debut in the Italian national team on 17 November 2004 in a friendly against Finland.
