Stefano Tacconi ( born May 13, 1957 in Perugia ) is an Italian former football goalkeeper.

Career as a player

In the club

Stefano Tacconi learned to play football at Spoleto Calcio, his first professional stop was Sambenedettese. His Serie A debut was for U.S. Avellino in the 1980/81 season, where he played until 1983. For the 1983/84 season he moved to Juventus.

At Juve he was ten years -choice goalkeeper and won two Italian Championships, the European Champion Clubs 'Cup, the Intercontinental Cup, the European Cup Winners' Cup, the UEFA Cup and Coppa Italia.

In 1994 he finally moved to Genoa, where he played for a year and relegation to Serie B. In 1995 he ended his playing career.

In the National Team

Stefano Tacconi graduated seven caps for Italy. His debut celebrated on 10 June 1987 against Argentina, he played his last game on 13 February 1991 against Belgium. Tacconi took with the Azzurri at the 1988 European Championship and the 1990 World Cup as a substitute goalkeeper each part.

Political ambitions after the end of career

In 1999 he was a candidate in the European elections for the right-wing National Alliance, but had no success. Six years later, in 2005, he announced to want to run for the right-wing Nuovo MSI for the office of President of the Lombardy but managed eventually not to collect the necessary signatures to be allowed to vote. In 2006 he joined again for the National Alliance for a place in the Milan City Council at, but was not elected.
