Stefanos Stefanopoulos

Stephanos Stephanopoulos (Greek: Στέφανος Στεφανόπουλος; * 1898 in Divri / Lampeia; † October 4, 1982 in Athens ) was a Greek politician and former Prime Minister.

Stephanopoulos was from 1952 to 1955 Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister in the cabinet of Marshal Alexandros Papagos and after his death, from 4 to October 6, 1955 Office of the Prime Minister. In the function of the Foreign Minister, he signed on 28 February 1953 in Ankara the first treaty of friendship between Greece, Yugoslavia and Turkey.

On September 17, 1965, he was again prime minister of a government, the first by the conservative parties as well as breakaway members of the deposed on July 15, 1965 Government of the Center Union (EK ) was supported by Georgios Papandreou. In 1966 he was Secretary of State. However, he could not achieve a permanent parliament government so that his government collapsed on 22 December 1966.
