Steffen Wesemann
Steffen Wesemann ( born March 11, 1971 in Wolmirstedt ) is a former racing cyclist.
Career
Wesemann began his professional career after victories in the Tour of Lower Saxony and the Peace Race in 1993 at the German Telekom cycling team, he was employed by the end of 2006.
Wesemann was regarded as classics specialist racer, as he was most successful in the spring races in Belgium and France. But even shorter stage races were him, so he won the Peace Race was the only driver five times. His greatest achievement was the victory at the Tour of Flanders 2004 sprint of a three -man lead group.
Since the September 19, 2005 Wesemann is a Swiss citizen. He gave a German citizenship, and started at the road Cycling Championship in 2005 for the Swiss national team.
In 2007, he achieved a third place in the race Paris -Roubaix. He was able to attend due to a wildcard with his second-rate team Wiesenhof - Felt in the race.
In the 2008 season Wesemann drove for Cycle Collstrop. After the season, he ended his active career.
Family
Steffen Wesemann is the son of former racing cyclist and DDR Champion in the road race, Wolfgang Wesemann, he is married and lives with his wife and one child currently in Kuettigen in Switzerland.
