Geography

Geographical location

The village lies in the valley of Stegaurach Herzogenaurach, about four kilometers west of Bamberg in direction of the Steigerwald. Behind the hills in the north of Stegaurach is the central valley.

Neighboring municipalities are (from north clockwise beginning ): Bisch, Bamberg, Pettstadt, Frensdorf, Burgebrach and Walsdorf.

History

Stegaurach belonged to the Bishopric of Bamberg, which was in the Frankish Empire Circle from 1500, and was originally part of erbermännischen administration of goods, but was to a large extent from the possession of the Bishopric or its ates. Since the Imperial Diet of 1803 the place belonged to Bavaria.

From 1978 to 2012, the church was a member and office of the Management Community Stegaurach.

Religions

78 % of the population is Roman Catholic, 13% Protestant and 9 % belong to a different denomination or religious affiliation are.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1972, until then independent municipality neighboring farms was incorporated. On 1 January 1973 was a part of, on April 1, 1975, including the rest of the community hard landing added. Mill village was followed on 1 January 1978.

Mayor since 1996 Siegfried stem ( CSU / citizens Block), the last in 2008 in the run-off election with 56.37 % against Bernd Fricke (Greens / Active Citizens Voice / SPD) won. His successor in 2014 Thilo Wagner (CDU - Free List ) has been selected. He sat down in the runoff election with 64.32 % against Bernd Fricke (Greens / Active Citizens Voice / SPD) by.

Management community

On 1 May 1978 the Municipality of Stegaurach formed with neighboring communities Walsdorf, Lisberg and Priesendorf administrative matters, dropped out of the latter two 31 December 1979 again. From 1 January 1980, only Stegaurach and Walsdorf member municipalities of the administrative community Stegaurach.

At a meeting of the Municipal Council on 12 June 2007 the municipality Walsdorf requested to become independent again. The Community shaft assembly of the joint management Stegaurach, the council Stegaurach, the municipal supervision of the district office of Bamberg and the technical supervision of the Government of Upper Franconia in favor of a non- resolution of the administrative community Stegaurach. Also, the Ministry of the Interior had written to a number of adverse consequences at a resolution of administrative matters. Among other things, the current Board will certify high efficiency and warned of a significant additional demand for capital and labor costs. However, the mayor of Walsdorf rejected the criticism, saying back: "There are no changes, nothing is expensive ." Since the community Walsdorf their request further maintained, the Bavarian state parliament adopted the Act of 4 December 2012 with the community Walsdorf was released from 1 January 2013 to independence.

Economy and infrastructure

It was in 1998 according to official statistics in industry and in trade and transport, no social insurance contributions at the workplace. In other areas, were employed to social security at the workplace 313 people. Social insurance contributions at residence, there were a total of 2,120. In manufacturing, there were three, in the construction of seven plants. In addition, in 1999, there were 46 farms with an agricultural area of 795 hectares, of which 571 hectares of arable land and 223 acres of meadowland.

Between Debring and Unteraurach is the industrial area Debring with numerous resident craft.

Breweries

On the territory of the municipality there are three breweries: the Hausbräu Stegaurach ( founded in 2001 ), the Müller brewery in Debring and Mühlenbräu in the mill village. By 1989 there were in Stegaurach the pitcher Brewery and until 1983 the wind fields Brewery, in mill village until 1973, the brewery Zur Linde mandrel and in Waizendorf to 1976 the Giehl brewery.

Education

There were 1999 the following facilities:

  • 225 kindergarten places with 228 children
  • An elementary school with 25 teachers and 470 students

Volunteer fire

In Debring, hard landing, yards / Waizendorf, mill village and Stegaurach there are volunteer fire services.

Traffic

The main thoroughfare of the village is the federal road B 22 in the section between Würzburg and Bamberg, leading approximately four kilometers from Bamberg by Debring. Other major roads are the 2276 St Stegaurach - Walsdorf - Trabelsdorf, the 2254 St Bamberg - Waizendorf - Frensdorf - Hoechstadt / Aisch and BA 21 Waizendorf - Pettstadt.

The community Stegaurach is in the field of the transport association Greater Nuremberg. The districts Debring, Stegaurach, mill village and hard landing served by the bus route 912 daily every hour. The bus 989 also served on weekdays the districts Waizendorf and Unteraurach, the bus route 983 serves the districts Waizendorf and courtyards.

Sports

Basketball

After the merger of the Minges Basket Club Bamberg and the basketball department of SpVgg Stegaurach the new basketball club BG Minges Stegaurach arose. Coach of the men's team is the former German Cup winner Gary of Waaden.

Currently, I women's team in the Oberliga Nord plays that I men's team in the district league Upper Franconia.

Football

From 1996 to 2001, the soccer team SpVgg Stegaurach played in the Bavarian League. The greatest success in the club's history was the second place in the table in season 1999/2000. She currently plays in the National League East Bavaria.

Community partnership

Stegaurach maintains a partnership with the French community Onet- le -Château in Aveyron.
