Steiger Ferris Wheel

The Steiger Ferris wheel with a height of 60 meters, the second largest transportable Ferris wheel in the world. The record as the largest portable wheel in the world was held for the first presentation on the shooting festival in Hanover 1980 to 2012. It has a diameter of 60 meters and a weight of 450 tons. To transport 32 specially converted 40 -foot containers are needed. These are loaded with container side loaders and a mobile crane and transported by our own vehicles and freight forwarders.

Designed and operated by Hamburg (formerly in Bad Oeynhausen ) based Schaustellerbetrieb Steiger Ferris Wheel is an attraction since its world premiere at the shooting festival Hannover in 1980 to numerous folk festivals. The Steiger Ferris Wheel occurs since the summer of 2010 in a completely new design. The lighting system of 15,000 light bulbs has been replaced by a modern computer-controlled lighting system with 250,000 LEDs. Almost traditionally the newly illuminated wheel was presented to the public for the first time on a shooting Hanover.

Was built this Ferris wheel by Bremer Maschinenfabrik steel and engineering Kocks. The necessary equipment for the static calculations led by the engineering office Dr. Cassens and Jaeschke.

Although the transport of this amusement ride 32 transports / r are needed, it was dismantled after the Stuttgart Beer Festival in just four days and situated on the Bremer free market again.

Accident

In the degradation of the ride after the Oldenburg Kramermarkt 2010, two of the four 30 meter high pillars were shaken and fell down. In this accident damaged the pillars of transport vehicles and the ride itself. Despite the presence of workers and spectators of degradation no people were harmed. The total damage is estimated at around 100,000 euros. Because of the accident, the guest appearance of the Ferris wheel fell off at the Bremen free market in 2010.

Lawsuit with the city of Stuttgart

Due to the non-admission of the ferris wheel at the Stuttgart Beer Festival 2010, the company Steiger moved against the city of Stuttgart in court. 2010, the city had first given the state license to a competitor, the company Hablützel & Bruch AG with its Mega Wheel Millennium Star. The award is made on a points system which takes into account various parameters (height, capacity, etc.). Against sued the company Steiger. In June 2011, the verdict was announced, Steiger won against the city of Stuttgart in 2011 and would thus can be represented with its 60 -meter Ferris wheel at the Stuttgart Beer Festival again. Also in the next two years, according to the schedule Steiger wheel was not represented at the Stuttgart Beer Festival. It was therefore in Oldenburg on the Kramer market.
