Steim

STEIM ( Studio for Electro Instrumental Music) is a center for the research and development of new tools for electronic music and media art. It has its headquarters in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. It has an artist-in- residence program for international artists and hosts concerts, exhibitions and workshops.

History

STEIM was founded in 1969 by Misha Mengelberg, Louis Andriessen, Peter Schat, Dick Raaymakers, Jan van Vlijmen, de Leeuw andd Konrad Boehmer. The first place of STEIM was the Prinseneiland in Amsterdam. 1971 train the studio in the Groenburgwal the city center. Since 1986 it is located in the aft canal. It includes three studios, a concert room, several labor and office space and a guest house.
