Steinbach am Donnersberg

Steinbach at Thunder Mountain is a municipality in the Thunder Mountain district in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Winnweiler.

Geography

The place is located in the North Palatine Uplands between the Thunder Mountain in the north- west and the Palatinate Forest in the south.

At Steinbach at Thunder Mountain are also living spaces Kaiser bush, house Voigtland, Upper Mill, Red bush and Lower Mill.

Origin of the name

The name of the place Steinbach, called by the local population also Schdoabach can be derived as in over 100 same place names in German-speaking of a body of water that name. The eponymous brook of Steinbach in Thunder Mountain comes from a rocky valley of Thunder Mountain. According to a citation from 1887, the creek is called from the Wildensteinertal the Steinbach. The close connection in early times between Steinbach and Standenbühl shows also on behalf of a relationship. Thus we read in 1787 Standenböhl 1662 to steindte bohell 1447 Steintenbohel 1355 Steinachtenbuel 1293 Steinechtenbohl. This suggests, according to local historians point out that the village initially considered scenic Bohele, which means as much as Bühel or hill, and was later nicknamed the stream mentioned ( standard or Steinbach ) wore standard or Steintebohl. Since 1907, the official spelling " Steinbach at Thunder Mountain" is in use. A certificate also bears the date of 15 August 1957. A letter from the State Archives Council v. Dr. Jan vom August 15, 1957 at the district government of the Palatinate in Neustadt, shows that "... the Steinbach as a river from a valley the thunder Mountain is coming ".

Parish council

The local council in Steinbach at Thunder Mountain consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Coat of arms

The blazon of the arms is: " Azure, on a green background, linkshin sitting, John the Evangelist in silver jacket and red underwear, writing his Gospel in a rotgebundenes silver book, right behind him standing a black eagle."

It was in 1950 awarded by the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Interior and is based on a seal from the year 1777.

Economy and infrastructure

Directly southeast of Steinbach run the A 63 (Kaiserslautern - Mainz) and the old imperial road.

The nearby train station Göllheim - Dreisen Zellertalstraße the web is approached only in leisure services. In Winnweiler and Münch Alsenz Rail stations are the Alsenztalbahn. The route will be operated by Deutsche Bahn (DB). There are red-painted Talent railcars used. The Alsenztalbahn is served hourly. The course book is listed as KBS 672. The drives are attached via the Biebermühlbahn up to Pirmasens.
