Steinbach (Haut-Rhin)

Steinbach is a commune with 1349 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Haut-Rhin in the Alsace region. It belongs to the district Thann, to Canton Cernay and community association Cernay et environs. Up to the southeast, the region is part of the Regional Natural Park of Ballons des Vosges.

Geography

The community of Steinbach is located at the foot of the Vosges mountains, about 17 kilometers northwest of Mulhouse. The settlement area of ​​the municipality extends the valley of the Thur Creek ores stream and head to the southeast seamlessly into the city Cernay over. In the north west, the wooded terrain rises steeply; the cup head is 922 m above sea level, the highest elevation in the territory of the municipality.
