Geography

The municipality is divided into the districts stone turning, Obermohr and Weltersbach.

History

Obermohr was first mentioned in the year 987, stone turning in the year 1180 and Weltersbach in the year 1328. The three places were by the end of the 18th century Palatine Oberamt (Kaiserslautern ), Obermohr and Weltersbach WAREM the court Ramstein assigned, stone Consult a trained own court, which included the villages Kottweiler, Mackenbach, Mies Bach and Schwandstrasse home.

Religion

2012 were 42.1 percent of the population Protestant and 36.3 percent Catholic. The other belonged to a different religion or no religious affiliation were. Catholics belong to the diocese of Speyer, the Evangelical Lutheran Church for Protestant Palatinate.

The local council in Steinwenden consists of 20 council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 of personalized proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Coat of arms

The blazon of the arms is: " From Red and Black by a golden wave beams split, top right is a golden orb with golden bow and golden paws cross, top left, rotbewehrter and bezungter golden lion holding an ascending out of the black sign foot beblättertes golden reed ".

It was approved in 1979 by the district government Neustadt and combines the figures of the historical coat of arms of the districts. The Palatinate lion also recalls the former membership of all three places to Electoral Palatinate.

  • The nearest motorway junctions are Landstuhl on the A 6 Saarbrücken- Mannheim and Hütschenhausen on the A 62
  • Stone contact is in the range of the transport association Rhein- Neckar. Keep hourly local trains of Deutsche Bahn at the stations Obermohr and stone turning the railway Landstuhl - Kusel.

  • Sports facilities in the district Steinwenden are the school sports hall and the small playing field in the Goethe Street.
